Il responsabile delle politiche della Banca Centrale Europea, Robert Holzmann, dà il via alla sessione europea affermando di non intravedere motivi per ridurre i tassi di interesse di riferimento in maniera troppo repentina o veloce. Nel frattempo, il responsabile delle politiche della BCE, Pierre Wunsch, sostiene come i costi di una politica troppo restrittiva per troppo tempo sembrano essere superiori a quelli di un allentamento prematuro. Per questo sarebbe giustificato, secondo lo stesso, un taglio di 50 punti base, sebbene il timing resti dettato dai dati.

In USA occhi puntati, oltre che sui dati relativi al lavoro in uscita, sui funzionari della Federal Reserve statunitense, con tre oratori in programma. Il vicepresidente della Federal Reserve Philip Jefferson interverrà in una discussione presso Exploring Careers in Economics;

il Presidente della Federal Reserve Bank di Boston Susan Collins sosterrà un discorso agli studenti del MIT Sloan e il governatore della Federal Reserve Lisa Cook discuterà l’ultimo rapporto semestrale della Fed sulla stabilità finanziaria.

In attesa della decisione ufficiale sui tassi di interesse della Banca d’Inghilterra, il consensus sostiene che gli stessi rimarranno invariati al 5.25% per la sesta volta consecutiva. Tuttavia, la BoE potrebbe assumere un atteggiamento leggermente dovish sulle prospettive dei tassi di interesse, in quanto i responsabili politici sono fiduciosi che la crescita dell’inflazione complessiva possa essere tornata al tasso desiderato del 2% in aprile, per poi risalire nei mesi successivi, secondo gli ultimi commenti del governatore della BoE Andrew Bailey.
