Inizia oggi nel Vecchio Continente una settimana cruciale, dal punto di vista politico…e non solo: gli Azzurri questa sera si giocheranno il passaggio alla fase a eliminazione diretta contro la Croazia e match ben più importanti si giocheranno a Bruxelles e, nel fine settimana, a Parigi. Mentre sul fronte europeo si spaccano i gruppi di destra che appoggeranno in ordine sparso uno dei candidati alla Presidenza (con la longa manus di Putin che si fa sentire), a Parigi cresce il nervosismo, con il panico da democrazia in pericolo che la fa da padrone e la possibilità che la Le Pen trionfi che fa perdere il sonno a molti francesi. Sul fronte geopolitico, aumentano le tensione dopo i raid ucraini su Sebastopoli, gli attacchi via mare della Russia e gli attentati contro chiese e sinagoghe nel Daghestan.

PMI positivi negli States, con Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist di S&P Global Market Intelligence, che segnala la più rapida espansione economica da oltre due anni a questa parte, lasciando presagire una fine del secondo trimestre incoraggiante. Sul fronte macro, l’attenzione dei mercati sarà rivolta ai dati del PCE in uscita in settimana (giovedì e venerdì) e ai dati del PIL, insieme a molti altri dati come indici di confidenza al consumo e beni durevoli.

Le vendite al dettaglio mensili sono rimbalzate, crescendo di un robusto 2.9%, quasi il doppio dell’1,5% previsto, mentre su base annua sono sorprendentemente aumentate dell’1.3% contro le attese che prevedevano un calo dello 0.9%. Questo significativo miglioramento delle vendite al dettaglio, nonostante il mantenimento di tassi di interesse più elevati da parte della BoE, potrebbe essere un problema nel mantenimento della stabilità dei prezzi, dato che nell’ultimo mese l’inflazione è tornata al 2%.
