L’euro tiene il passo grazie all’aspettativa che i tassi d’interesse rimangano più alti a lungo nell’Eurozona a causa della persistente inflazione salariale. Si prevede che i salari continueranno a crescere fortemente nella seconda metà del 2024 prima di attenuarsi nel 2025-2026, dichiara il membro del Comitato esecutivo della BCE Philip Lane in un recente discorso. Nel breve termine, ciò potrebbe esercitare una pressione al rialzo sull’inflazione che, a sua volta, manterrà la BCE cauta e dipendente dai dati sui tassi di interesse.
In USA la settimana inizia con una certa calma a causa della festività del Labor Day negli Stati Uniti, ma il calendario economico prenderà velocità verso l’evento principale di venerdì. Il primo venerdì del mese sarà infatti dedicato al rapporto sui posti di lavoro negli Stati Uniti, con i Nonfarm Payrolls e altri dati sui salari su cui i mercati si muoveranno. Resta comunque ancora elevata la probabilità che la Federal Reserve possa attuare un forte taglio dei tassi di interesse nella riunione di settembre.
La sterlina apre la settimana con i dati del PMI per il settore manifatturiero che scende in linea con le attese a 52.5. Per quanto riguarda le future decisioni della BoE, i mercati non prevedono alcun taglio dei tassi per la riunione del 19 settembre, mentre per la decisione del 7 novembre gli analisti hanno una quasi certezza dell’87.2% per 25 punti base.
