Per Nagel l’inflazione è ostinatamente alta

Joachim Nagel, membro del Consiglio direttivo della BCE, commenta l’inflazione “ostinatamente alta” in Europa affermando che è necessario mantenere alti i tassi per tutto il tempo che occorre, ma non si sbilancia sulla prossima mossa della banca a settembre.

In Germania l’economia ha ristagnato nel secondo trimestre del 2023, con un dato sul PIL del -0,2%, contro l’atteso 0,1%. Focalizzandoci invece sulla situazione italiana, il PPI annuale di giugno passa contro le aspettative ad un -5,5%, rispetto all’atteso -12,9% e al precedente -4,3%. 

L’inflazione annua statunitense ha registrato a giugno l’aumento più contenuto degli ultimi due anni, il costo del lavoro è al 4,5% su base annua, dopo essere salito al 4,8% nel primo trimestre, un aumento minore del previsto. La crescita dei salari si è leggermente raffreddata, offrendo una spinta alla FED nella lotta all’inflazione. L’Employment Cost Index è aumentato dell’1,0% nello scorso trimestre, dopo aver registrato un aumento dell’1,2%, mentre l’indice PCE sale dello 0,2% a giugno, come il PCE core che si attesta al 4,1% su base annua.

Nuovo record, tutto negativo, per il Regno Unito ed il Galles: nel secondo trimestre del 2023 si è assistito, purtroppo, ad un nuovo record di aziende insolventi, primato precedentemente 

detenuto dall’annata 2009.Le insolvenze sono aumentate del 13%, con 6,342 aziende che hanno chiuso i battenti. Durante il periodo Covid le aziende inglesi hanno ricevuto circa 80miliardi di sterline di contributi governativi: questo ha permesso loro di poter superare i precedenti trimestri. Altra motivazione di questo generalizzato default è l’aumento del costo dell’indebitamento, che nel Regno Unito ha raggiunto tassi elevati. Ricordiamo che il prossimo 3 agosto ci sarà la decisione della BoE circa l’aumento dei tassi.
