L’inflazione raggiunge il target

L’inflazione decelera all’1,8%, al di sotto dell’obiettivo del 2% della Bce per la prima volta dal 2021...

L’IPC annuale dell’Eurozona decelera all’1.8%, al di sotto dell’obiettivo della BCE del 2% per la prima volta dal 2021, mentre il core aumenta del 2.7%, meno però delle aspettative. Ciò conferma le parole di lunedì di Christine Lagarde, presidente della BCE, la quale ha riconosciuto che alcuni indicatori suggeriscono che la ripresa sta affrontando ostacoli e che l’inflazione tornerà all’obiettivo in modo tempestivo, rafforzando le ipotesi di un taglio ad ottobre.

L’attività del settore manifatturiero statunitense continua a contrarsi a settembre, con il PMI manifatturiero dell’ISM che si attesta a 47.2. Sorprendono positivamente invece i JOLTs segnando un valore di 8,040M, contro il 7,640M previsto. Commentando i risultati sui PMI, “la domanda rimane contenuta, in quanto le aziende si sono dimostrate poco propense a investire in capitale e scorte a causa della politica monetaria federale – che la Federal Reserve degli Stati Uniti ha affrontato al momento della stesura di questo rapporto – e dell’incertezza elettorale”, dichiara Timothy R. Fiore, presidente del Comitato per l’indagine sulle imprese manifatturiere dell’Institute for Supply Management.

In UK le aspettative del mercato per una riduzione dei tassi di interesse da parte della Banca d’Inghilterra a novembre si attenuano ulteriormente dopo l’intervento di Megan Greene, membro della politica esterna della BoE, alla conferenza della National Association for Business Economics.
La stessa indica che la ripresa del Regno Unito, trainata dai consumi, potrebbe far ripartire le pressioni sui prezzi. Greene avverte, infatti, che il ritorno dell’inflazione complessiva all’obiettivo della banca del 2% è dovuto a un calo temporaneo dei prezzi del petrolio. Inoltre, resta preoccupante l’inflazione nel settore dei servizi.
