L’indice ISM spariglia le carte

In attesa della riunione dell’Eurotower del prossimo 14 settembre, il mercato valuta in maniera attenta le parole degli economisti dell’Istituto Centrale.

Peter Kazimir, policymaker della BCE, ha affermato che l’opzione migliore al momento è quella di aumentare i tassi di 25 punti base. Lo stesso ha affermato che un’opzione percorribile è quella di prendersi una pausa questo mese, per poi ritornare a rialzarli nelle successive riunioni. Il Membro del Consiglio Direttivo della BCE Klaas Knot è intervenuto sempre sullo stesso tema, affermando che i mercati probabilmente stanno sottostimando la possibilità di un rialzo nel prossimo incontro di settembre.

L’attività economica nel settore dei servizi statunitense ha continuato ad espandersi ad agosto, per l’ottavo mese consecutivo con l’ISM Services PMI che è passato da 52.7 a 54.5. Questa lettura è risultata superiore delle aspettative del mercato di 52.5. L’indice dell’occupazione è invece salito da 50.7 a 54.7, mentre l’indice dei prezzi è salito a 58.9 da 56.8. Gli investitori temono che il balzo dei prezzi del petrolio ai massimi livelli di quest’anno, possa avere un impatto sull’inflazione e quindi su come la Federal Reserve muoverà i tassi di interesse in futuro, l’aspettativa comunque è che a settembre si andrà per una pausa.

Dal Regno Unito il governatore della BoE Bailey ha affermato che la banca centrale non è convinta di aumentare ulteriormente i tassi di interesse. Si prevede che la stessa rimanga dipendente dai dati, mentre un altro membro della Bank of England, Swati Dhingra, ha affermato che l’attuale politica monetaria è sufficientemente restrittiva. L’indice CIPS, che misura il livello degli acquisti dei manager del settore edilizio, supera le previsioni di 50.5 e si attesta a 50.8.
