La BCE spicca il volo, ma non troppo

La BCE ha confermato quando già ampiamente scontato dai mercati: il tasso d’interesse principale aumenta di 25 punti base, con il “costo” del denaro che arriva al 3.75%.

Questo livello ha un sapore storicamente amaro poichè ricorda l’ottobre 2008 nel quale la situazione dei mercati globali era plumbea. Madame Lagarde, nel suo speech di rito, ha affermato che c’è ancora tanta strada da fare per arrivare al target dell’inflazione tanto atteso. Tutti i membri del Board, ha affermato il Presidente, sono stati d’accordo nel rialzare i tassi, come hanno fatto esattamente i colleghi americani il giorno prima. Da segnalare quindi la frase della numero uno dell’Eurotower, forse la più significativa, dove afferma che ci sono ancora forti rischi al rialzo per l’inflazione.

Negli Stati Uniti i dati sul mercato del lavoro, in attesa dei Non Farm Payroll di oggi, hanno registrato dei dati incoraggianti ma forse non voluti dalla FED: le richieste continue di sussidi di disoccupazione hanno battuto le aspettative positivamente, arrivando a 1.805 mln, 60 mila in meno di quelle inizialmente stimate. Altro dato sorpendente è l’aumento del costo del lavoro che cresce del 6.3% contro il 5.5% stimato.

Indici positivi per la sterlina, in Gran Bretagna vediamo infatti un indice PMI composito che segna 54.9 anziché l’atteso 53.9. Lo stesso vale per l’Indice dei direttori degli acquisti del settore servizi, che si attesta a 55.9 contro il 54.9 che si aspettavano gli analisti. Anche il discorso della Presidente della BCE Lagarde ha avuto un’influenza positiva sulla sterlina, che recupera i massimi da un anno a questa parte, appena al di sotto di 1.2600 rispetto allo USD e sotto quota 0.8800 contro EUR.
