Il messaggio di Powell

il membro del Consiglio direttivo della Bce Kazimir ha detto che un rialzo dei tassi a settembre da parte della Banca Centrale Europea, dopo l'attesa stretta di luglio, è incerto e dipenderà da una nuova valutazione degli sviluppi economici.

Più nello specifico, sostiene che si dovrà verificare che l’inflazione sia sotto controllo prima di prendere una decisione. Concentrandosi sullo scontro a Kiev, la Svezia ha annunciato che ieri l’Unione europea ha adottato l’undicesimo pacchetto di sanzioni contro la Russia.

La lotta della FED per riportare l’inflazione al target del 2% “ha una lunga strada da percorrere”, ha dichiarato il presidente Jerome Powell nella testimonianza davanti alla commissione per i Servizi finanziari della Camera. La scorsa settimana l’istituto centrale statunitense aveva deciso di lasciare i tassi invariati, al 5%-5,25%, prendendosi un periodo di pausa, dopo dieci rialzi consecutivi, ma si dichiara pronta ad alzarli nuovamente anche più volte entro due anni.

Giornata storica in Inghilterra, ma in un senso non del tutto positivo. Secondo l’Ufficio Nazionale delle Statistiche, per la prima volta dal lontano 1961, il debito del Regno Unito ha

 

superato la quota del 100% del PIL nel mese di maggio. L’indebitamento è risultato maggiore delle attese toccando la cifra di 3.28 trilioni di dollari. Ad onor di cronaca questo livello è stato superato per brevi periodi durante il Covid, ma mai durante una fase di mercato “normale”.  Ad indebitarsi più del solito, dovranno essere anche gli inglesi, visto che i prezzi delle case sono aumentati su base annua del 3.5%.
