Venerdì l’indice PMI tedesco è risultato inferiore alle previsioni, nello specifico 43.1 vs 43.2 atteso. Lo stesso dato, a livello europeo, ha registrato un dato di 44.2 del settore manifatturiero e 48.1 del settore dei servizi. La Presidente della BCE Lagarde ha mantenuto invariati i tassi di interesse ma mantenendo un atteggiamento da falco e lasciando interpretare il suo atteggiamento come lento e poco reattivo alla lotta contro l’inflazione.
Dal Belpaese, secondo gli ultimi dati Istat, l’inflazione è scesa allo 0.7% avvicinandosi sempre più a un livello del febbraio 2021 che era +0.6%.

Sul fronte economico, il Biglietto Verde è stato rivitalizzato dai numeri positivi del Purchase Managers Index. In particolare, il numero positivo dei servizi che è passato da 50.8 a 51.3, mentre l’indice manifatturiero Empire State di New York per il mese di dicembre è passato da un precedente 9.1 a -14.5. Infine il Presidente della Fed di NY Williams ha dichiarato che il taglio dei tassi di interesse non è in discussione al momento. “È prematuro”, ha risposto quando gli è stato chiesto di un taglio dei tassi a marzo o di prendere in considerazione la tempistica del taglio dei tassi.

I dati pubblicati nel Regno Unito hanno mostrato  l’indice preliminare dell’attività commerciale nel settore dei servizi balzato a un massimo di sei mesi di 52.7 a dicembre vs 50.9 di novembre e 51 previsto dal mercato. L’attività manifatturiera ha rivelato una contrazione più profonda, scendendo a 46.4 da 47.2 in novembre, contro il consenso del mercato che prevedeva una lettura di 47.5. Giovedì la Banca d’Inghilterra ha lasciato invariati i tassi di interesse; e dopo la riunione, il governatore della BoE Andrew Bailey ha dichiarato che non è ancora possibile affermare con assoluta certezza che i tassi di interesse abbiano raggiunto il picco, anche se spera che sia così. Inoltre, è troppo presto per parlare di tagli dei tassi, poiché sono necessari ulteriori progressi sul fronte dell’inflazione. Se nei prossimi mesi l’inflazione dovesse calare più bruscamente del previsto, è probabile che i tagli dei tassi rientrino nell’agenda della BoE.
