Fed Chair Jerome Powell stated that, as inflation remains elevated and the labour market tight, further rate hikes are very much possible. Concerns over the US banking sector\u2019s fragility were downplayed, with Powell asserting that the sector is \u2018sound and resilient\u2019.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"[ col col-12 col-sd-5 col-md-6 ]\">\n        <p class=\"reader-text-block__paragraph\">Despite the hawkish spin, the market\u2019s major take away was the acknowledgement that the US faces the prospect of a mild recession next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reader-text-block__paragraph\">Subsequently, market expectations are little changed and the probability of a July rate cut remains over 40%.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"[ content-section content-section--heading-text ]\">\n  <div class=\"grid-container\">\n    <div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n      <div class=\"[ col col-12 col-lg-4 col-sd-3 ]\">\n        <h2 class=\"[ content-section__heading content-section__heading--sticky ] js-animate-on-scroll\">ECB<\/h2>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"[ col col-12 col-lg-8 col-sd-7 ] js-animate-on-scroll\">\n        <h4 class=\"reader-text-block__paragraph\">The second major central bank rate announcement of the week is scheduled for 1315 today. Comments from ECB policy makers over recent weeks indicate that rates will need to rise further.
